Thank you for leaving your review.
We are sorry to read you do not feel our claims process has worked for you.
Having looked into your policy and claim I can see the reason you were asked to provide the birth certificate is due to the slight spelling difference between your sons and your surnames as well as residing at a different address. They were asking for the additional documentation to show the relationship so they would be able to proceed with your claim under the Immediate family cover. Immediate family cover is defined as your mother, father, son, daughter and spouse under our Terms and Conditions.
As you do not want to provide this our claims team will be able to look at a Gift Receipt if your son could ask John Lewis to provide one. Once received we will look to cover this as per the criteria on the terms and conditions ‘ Gifted to you as long as you are able to provide a Gift receipt’
Evidence of ownership is a must on all insurance policies and in our documents it is defined as “A document to evidence that the gadget you are claiming for belongs to you. This can be a copy of the till receipt, delivery note, gift receipt or, if the gadget is a mobile phone, confirmation from your Network Provider that the mobile phone has been used by you”
With regards to your policy being cancelled we emailed yourself on 30/12/2020 with a Renewal notice advising if you wished to go ahead for another year to contact us to make payment. As no contact was made the policy automatically closed at the end of its 12 month term.
I understand that your concerns and upset have been raised in a complaint with our claims team. However if you wish to discuss this further please contact them on 0203 794 9294 and select option 1.
Kind regards
The Gadget Cover Team
